Daemon Targaryen

Daemon Targaryen was the younger son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and brother to Viserys I Targaryen. Born into the ruling dynasty of Westeros, Daemon grew up in the shadow of his elder brother, who would become king. From an early age, Daemon showed a fierce temperament and a hunger for glory. He was knighted at a young age and quickly became known as a skilled warrior and dragonrider, claiming the fearsome dragon Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm.

During the reign of King Jaehaerys I, Daemon served in various positions at court, but his ambition and impulsive nature often put him at odds with the king and his Hand, Ser Otto Hightower. After Viserys ascended the throne, Daemon was appointed Commander of the City Watch, where he transformed the gold cloaks into a formidable force. The death of Laena and later Viserys I plunged the realm into civil war. Daemon married his niece Rhaenyra to strengthen her claim to the Iron Throne. During the Dance of the Dragons, Daemon became Rhaenyra's most formidable commander, leading brutal campaigns against the Greens. His most famous act was the murder of Prince Aemond Targaryen and his dragon Vhagar in the Battle Above the Gods Eye, a duel that cost Daemon his own life.
