Honours

Bruce Beresford's contributions to cinema have been recognized with numerous awards and honours. He has received two Academy Award nominations, for Adapted Screenplay and Best Director, and his film Driving Miss Daisy won four Oscars. He has also been nominated for two BAFTAs, a Golden Globe, and a Directors Guild of America Award.His work has competed at major international festivals: four of his films have been nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and four for the Golden Bear at Berlin. In 2017, he received the Longford Lyell Award for lifetime achievement from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.

AwardsBruce Beresford has won multiple AACTA/AFI Awards, including Best Direction for Don's Party (1976) and Breaker Morant (1980), as well as Best Screenplay for Breaker Morant and The Fringe Dwellers (1986). He also won a Genie Award for Best Direction and an APRA Award. His opera direction of Elektra earned the Best Opera Production of 1991.
