Transformers

The Transformers franchise began in 1984 when Hasbro licensed transforming robot toys from Takara's Diaclone and Micro Change lines and launched them alongside a Marvel comic and a Sunbow animated series. The premise pitted the heroic Autobots against the villainous Decepticons, two factions of sentient alien robots from the planet Cybertron who could disguise themselves as vehicles, animals, and everyday objects.

Over the next four decades the brand expanded into more than fifteen television series, dozens of comic book runs, a seven-film live-action series that grossed over $5.3 billion worldwide, and an animated feature in 2024. The toy line has cycled through generations, including Generation 1, Beast Wars, Armada, Classics, Studio Series, and the current Legacy line, with figures ranging from basic play sets to premium Masterpiece collectibles.

Hasbro continues to produce new animated series such as EarthSpark and has licensed comics to Skybound Entertainment since 2023. The franchise's cumulative revenue has exceeded $25 billion, placing it among the highest-grossing media properties globally. [edit]
