Avicenna's record is measured in centuries rather than trophies. The Canon of Medicine held its place in European medical curricula for roughly six hundred years, a run no modern textbook approaches, and the Book of Healing gave medieval philosophy one of its most complete syntheses. Roughly 450 works are attributed to him and about 240 survive. The title Prince of Physicians and the description father of early modern medicine both attach to him by long usage. Institutions now carry the commemoration: a mausoleum at Hamadan, a Tajik medical prize in his name, and a research center planned at Bukhara for the 1,050th anniversary of his birth in 2030.
