Labruna's goal-scoring records are his greatest accolade. He scored 293 league goals for River Plate, a club record that still stands. He was the all-time top scorer in Argentine Primera División history for decades. He was a key member of "La Máquina," widely considered one of the greatest forward lines ever. As a coach, he won six league titles with River Plate in the 1970s, a golden era for the club.
