    Overview

Reuben Feffer, a risk analyst from Long Island, has built his entire life around avoiding risk. But when his wife leaves him on their honeymoon, he finds himself drawn to Polly Prince, a free-spirited adventure seeker who embodies everything he's not. Directed by John Hamburg, this 2004 romantic comedy pairs Ben Stiller's neurotic charm with Jennifer Aniston's effortless cool, creating a classic opposites-attract story. The film also features memorable supporting turns from Philip Seymour Hoffman as a washed-up child star and Alec Baldwin as Reuben's boss. With a budget of $42 million, it grossed over $178 million worldwide, proving that audiences still had an appetite for the romantic comedy genre in the early 2000s. While critics were divided, the film's blend of cringe comedy and genuine warmth has earned it a devoted following over the years.

Reuben Feffer is an insurance risk analyst who has his whole life mapped out, down to the most mundane details. On his honeymoon in the Caribbean, his new wife Lisa cheats on him with a French scuba instructor, and Reuben returns to New York devastated. At a party thrown by his best friend Sandy Lyle, a washed-up former child actor, Reuben runs into Polly Prince, a girl he knew in junior high. Polly is an art curator who lives spontaneously, eats street food, and dances without caring who watches. She's everything Reuben isn't, and he's immediately drawn to her.

Their first date is a disaster in the best way: Polly takes him to a restaurant where he suffers from food poisoning, and he ends up in the hospital. But Reuben is hooked. As they spend more time together, Polly encourages him to try new things, from salsa dancing to skydiving. Meanwhile, Reuben's boss Stan Indursky pressures him to take on a risky client, Leland Van Lew, a former child star who wants to insure his body parts. Reuben's neurotic tendencies clash with Polly's freewheeling nature, and he struggles to keep up.

Just as things start to get serious, Reuben learns that Polly has a pattern of leaving relationships when they become too intimate. He also discovers that his ex-wife Lisa wants him back, which throws him into further confusion. Torn between his safe, predictable life with Lisa and the unpredictable, thrilling world Polly offers, Reuben must decide what he truly wants. As he navigates this romantic crossroads, he realizes that taking risks might be the only way to find real happiness.
