Abdus Salam's Nobel Prize was a historic first for Pakistan and the Muslim world. His election to the Royal Society at age 33 marked him as one of the youngest fellows. The Copley Medal, the Royal Society's oldest award, recognized his lifetime contributions. Salam's knighthood in 1979 made him Sir Abdus Salam. He also received honorary doctorates from over 40 universities worldwide, including Cambridge, Oxford, and Harvard.
