Records
Abdul Qadeer Khan's achievements are inseparable from Pakistan's nuclear history. He is credited with building the country's uranium enrichment capability from scratch, a feat that gave Pakistan a credible deterrent against India. His leadership at KRL produced the fissile material for the 1998 nuclear tests, making Pakistan the first Islamic nation to possess nuclear weapons.His honors reflect the national gratitude: the Nishan-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's highest civil award, was conferred on him twice, a rare distinction. He also received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz and an honorary doctorate from Karachi University. Beyond Pakistan, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia hailed him as a hero of the Islamic world, underscoring his symbolic importance across the Muslim ummah.
