Abdel Fattah al-Burhan

Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's record is measured in offices held rather than trophies won. He is the first chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, a body created in August 2019 and rebuilt after his October 2021 coup. He has served as commander-in-chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces since 2019, and before that as General Inspector of the armed forces. These are positions of authority, not honours, and the available record contains no hall of fame, honorary degree or state decoration attached to his name.
