@kimonA tailor in a small Moroccan town has spent years running a caftan workshop with his wife, keeping certain feelings tucked away where nobody can find them. Then a young apprentice walks in, and the workshop stops being the same place. The three of them get closer, and everything that was never said starts pushing its way to the surface. Love, sacrifice, jealousy, acceptance, The Blue Caftan (2022) works through all of it. What gets me is how the film barely uses speeches. Silence does the heavy lifting, glances, small expressions, the stuff people don't say out loud. It's about how exhausting it is to live behind what everyone expects from you, and how much guts it takes to sit with feelings the world hasn't decided it accepts yet. Deeply moving Moroccan film, and it earns every quiet moment. 🍿
