    Largest Uranium-Producing Countries 2023

@timofeyLargest Uranium-Producing Countries in the World โ€” 2023 Uranium is the primary fuel for nuclear fission, making it an important mineral for nuclear electricity generation and other nuclear applications. Unlike several minerals in our series, uranium production needs careful attention to the measurement unit: World Mining Data reports uranium production as Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ (triuranium octoxide), commonly called yellowcake, rather than tonnes of elemental uranium (U). According to World Mining Data 2025, these were the countries with recorded uranium production in 2023: ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Kazakhstan โ€” 24,895 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Canada โ€” 16,372 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Namibia โ€” 8,238 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Australia โ€” 5,512 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Uzbekistan โ€” 4,304 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russia โ€” 3,196 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ China โ€” 2,005 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ช Niger โ€” 1,332 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India โ€” 708 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine โ€” 310 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ South Africa โ€” 275 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazil โ€” 107 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ Pakistan โ€” 53 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ United States โ€” 23 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Czechia โ€” 15 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ Total recorded production: 67,345 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ. The top five countries alone accounted for about 81.7% of the World Mining Data total. ๐Ÿ”Ž Why the numbers can look different elsewhere This is an important point for our Original Content. The World Nuclear Association reports 2023 uranium production in tonnes of uranium (tU) rather than Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ. Its 2023 world total is 54,433 tU, with Kazakhstan at 21,109 tU, Canada at 11,001 tU, Namibia at 6,986 tU and Australia at 4,693 tU. USGS likewise reports the 2023 global figure as approximately 141.2 million pounds of Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ, equivalent to roughly 64,000 tonnes Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ, and says uranium was produced by 17 countries that year. Differences between datasets can therefore arise from methodology, reporting revisions and whether production is expressed as U or Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ. Source: World Mining Data 2025 โ€” uranium (Uโ‚ƒOโ‚ˆ) mineral production data for 2023. For the infographic: I recommend we keep the 15 countries actually listed by World Mining Data, rather than inventing extra countries simply to reach 20. That keeps the Worldly series verifiable.

    About this photo

The image focuses on a list of the largest uranium-producing countries in the world for 2023. A man in a hard hat and high-visibility vest holds a chunk of raw ore in front of a large open-pit mine with heavy machinery. The overall style is informative and industrial, with a graphic overlay detailing production figures and facts about uranium. Visually notable is the contrast between the man holding the ore and the vast scale of the mining operation behind him, as well as the prominent list of countries and their production numbers. ON-SCREEN TEXT: Largest Uranium-Producing Countries in the World - 2023 Uranium mine production (tonnes U3O8) Follow @WorldlyHQ for more verified global mineral and crude-oil production data. Source: World Mining Data 2025 (mineral production data for 2023). Uranium is the primary fuel for nuclear fission, used in electricity generation and other nuclear applications. Top 5 countries accounted for about 81.7% of global uranium production in 2023.
