Awanle Ayiboro Hawa Ali

Ghanaian painter, born 1997 in Nima, Accra, whose portraits of women in men's suiting push back against patriarchy. After a ten-month residency with Gallery 1957, she had a solo show there, 'Fine Feathers Don't Make Fine Birds' (Feb-Apr 2025), about the Kayayei female porters and Oxford Street sex workers.
