The Korean Drama Awards are an annual celebration of one of the most powerful screen industries on the planet. Korean drama has become a driving force of the global Hallyu wave, topping streaming charts far beyond Korea and turning its leads into international stars with fandoms on every continent. This campaign honors that industry and the people who make it, across three awards: Best Korean Drama, Best Korean Actor, and Best Korean Actress.
This is not a national bracket. It is a tribute to a craft that the whole world has fallen for. iFANN is a global entertainment platform, and celebrating a story-making machine with worldwide reach and worldwide fans is exactly what we are here to do.
What the awards honor
The Korean Drama Awards run as one themed campaign with three honors. Best Korean Drama goes to the series that owned the year, the one whose story pulled a global fanbase back episode after episode. Best Korean Actor and Best Korean Actress go to the leads whose performances carried those stories and stayed with people long after the finale.
The focus is the work itself and the industry behind it: the writing, the direction, the acting, and the pull a K-drama has on the people watching. These are the shows and the performers that defined the year for millions of fans who do not all share a language or a country.
An industry, not a nationality
This is an industry award, not a nationality test. The Korean Drama Awards celebrate the Korean drama industry as a whole, one of the most globally dominant forces in entertainment today, rather than drawing a border around who is allowed to care about it.
That distinction matters. K-drama is now a worldwide language of storytelling, and honoring it means honoring everything it has built and everyone it has reached. We are proud to put the industry on a global stage and let the world it created speak for it.
Worldwide reach and global fandom
Korean drama long ago stopped being a local business. A hit K-drama now travels to well over a hundred countries, tops streaming charts on multiple continents at once, and sparks the same late-night conversations in dozens of time zones. Its leads sell out fan events from Manila to Paris to São Paulo, and its fandoms are some of the most devoted online.
Because the audience is global, the awards are too. Winners are chosen by an international fan base, not only Korean viewers, so the honor reflects the true scale of the industry's reach. That is the whole point: a worldwide art form deserves a worldwide vote.
Our selection philosophy
The process begins with fans submitting the people and works they believe deserve recognition. iFANN's internal editorial team reviews every nomination for category fit, eligibility, identity, duplication, and abuse. Accepted nominees join the public ballot. After public voting closes, the iFANN International Editorial Board independently ranks the five finalists.
Winners are then decided the way every iFANN Award is decided. Fan votes account for 60% of the final score, and the editorial board accounts for the remaining 40%. Fans stay at the center of these awards, and the panel is there to keep the field honest, not to override the people who actually watch.
What a Korean Drama Awards honor includes
Winners are celebrated and actively promoted across the iFANN platform, given proper media coverage, and featured on the iFANN Pop Show, which reaches entertainment and pop culture fans around the world.
Each winner is also recognized with a physical engraved iFANN trophy, sent to the recipient or the team behind the show, or kept safe in the iFANN library until they are ready to receive it, along with a permanent place in the iFANN awards archive.
Best Korean Drama
Best Korean Drama honors the standout K-drama of the year, from the tightly plotted sixteen-episode romances and thrillers that first drew the world in to the streaming hits that now top charts on every continent. Known for their polish, their emotional precision and their command of genre, Korean series sit at the heart of the modern Hallyu wave.
Nominations are open across every network and streaming platform, and fans put forward the dramas they could not stop watching. This award marks the Korean series that most defined the year, in an industry that has become a global standard for television storytelling.
Best Korean Actor
Best Korean Actor recognizes the leading men of K-drama, the performers whose careful, layered work helped turn Korean television into a worldwide obsession. Korean series reward nuance and restraint, and their finest actors can hold an entire scene in a single glance.
This category celebrates the male performance that stood out most across the year, in a lead or defining supporting role. Fans nominate the actors whose work moved them, from established leading men to the breakout stars of the season.
Best Korean Actress
Best Korean Actress honors the women of Korean television, whose performances give K-drama its emotional core across romance, thriller and everything in between. As Korean series command audiences around the globe, their leading women have become some of the most recognized stars in the world.
The award recognizes the year's finest female performance across leading and supporting roles. Fans put forward the actresses who defined their favorite dramas, celebrating both household names and the rising talents reshaping the industry.
