Best Movie accepts eligible films from around the world. Nominees can come from any film industry and may be released in any language.
That means a subtitled feature can go head to head with a studio tentpole, and an independent film can outrun a franchise if its fans show up. The playing field is the same for all of them, because the only currency that counts is how much a movie is genuinely loved.
Our selection philosophy
The process begins with fans submitting the people and works they believe deserve recognition. iFANN's internal editorial team reviews every nomination for category fit, eligibility, identity, duplication, and abuse. Accepted nominees join the public ballot. After public voting closes, the iFANN International Editorial Board independently ranks the five finalists.
Winners are then decided the way every iFANN Award is decided: fan votes account for 60% of the final score and the professional panel accounts for the remaining 40%. Fans stay at the center of it, and the panel is there to keep the shortlist honest, not to overrule the people who actually watched and loved the films.
Monthly and annual honors
Best Movie runs on two clocks. Each month, fans crown the standout film of that period, giving new releases a fair shot while they are fresh and the conversation around them is loudest.
Those monthly results then feed into the annual Best Movie honor, the bigger prize that looks back across a full year of cinema and streaming to name the film that stood tallest of all. Winning the month is its own moment. Winning the year is the one everyone remembers.

Winners are celebrated and actively promoted across the iFANN social platform, given proper media coverage, and featured on the iFANN Pop Show, which reaches entertainment and pop culture fans around the world.
The film and the people behind it are also recognized with a physical engraved iFANN trophy, shipped directly to them or kept safe in the iFANN library until they are ready to receive it, along with a permanent place in the iFANN awards archive.
