Zhao Xiaotang

Zhao Xiaotang is a Chinese singer, dancer, and actress best known as the runner-up of the survival show Youth With You Season 2. Born Zhao Jia Hui in Beijing, she rose to global prominence in 2020 when her unique tomboyish style and sharp dance skills captivated audiences. She debuted as a member of the nine-girl group THE9, where she quickly became recognized for her strong stage presence and independent persona.

Following the group's disbandment in early 2021, Zhao transitioned into a successful solo career. She has established herself as a versatile entertainer with significant success in acting and high-profile fashion endorsements. Her ability to balance commercial appeal with artistic credibility has made her one of the most influential young stars in the Chinese entertainment industry today. [edit]

Zhao Xiaotang was born Zhao Jia Hui on April 2, 1997, into a wealthy family in Beijing. Her father, Zhao Yongjun, is a prominent entrepreneur and founder of R&F Properties, a major luxury real estate developer in China. Despite growing up in a privileged environment with access to elite resources, Zhao chose to pursue a path far removed from corporate business. She attended the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy, where she dedicated years to mastering classical and contemporary dance techniques.

Before entering the public eye, Zhao had no professional experience in singing or acting. Her life was defined by rigorous dance training and academic pursuits rather than the spotlight. The decision to audition for a reality competition marked a radical departure from her expected trajectory. She entered the highly competitive survival show Youth With You Season 2 without prior industry connections or performance credits, relying solely on her raw talent and distinctive personal style to stand out among thousands of aspiring idols. [edit]

The turning point for Zhao came in January 2020 during the final episode of Youth With You Season 2. She finished in second place, securing a spot in the newly formed girl group THE9. Her unique aesthetic, blending streetwear with high fashion and a confident, cool demeanor, resonated deeply with viewers. During her time with THE9 from 2020 to 2021, she performed in numerous concerts and variety shows, contributing to the group's massive popularity before their official graduation concert in Nanjing.

After THE9 disbanded in January 2021, Zhao launched a robust solo career focused on acting and brand partnerships. In 2023, she starred in the film Yesterday Once More, showcasing her acting abilities beyond dance. She continued to expand her portfolio with roles in the fantasy drama The Immortal Ascension in 2025 and is set to star in the upcoming film The Old Dog later this year. Her commercial value skyrocketed when she became an ambassador for Victoria's Secret in China in 2021, a rare achievement for a C-pop idol that highlighted her influence in the fashion world. [edit]

Zhao Xiaotang projects a confident, independent, and slightly rebellious public image. She is famous for her "cool girl" persona, characterized by a tomboyish yet stylish aesthetic that blends streetwear with high-end fashion. Her content tone is generally positive, focusing on themes of self-love, hard work, and personal independence. Media outlets often describe her as a visual center with a strong stage presence, distinguishing her from more traditional idol archetypes. [edit]

Zhao Xiaotang commands a massive following across China and internationally, particularly among fans of C-pop and reality television. As of the October 2026 rankings, iFANN has not yet collected fame data for her, placing her outside current published lists. She was not featured on the September 2026 iFAMOUS Rankings flagship list, though her cultural impact remains significant within her niche.

While there is no single universally codified official name for her fandom, supporters often refer to themselves as "Tang Tang Fans" or simply "Xiaotang Fans." These followers are known for engaging in streaming parties, chart manipulation to boost her solo songs, and organizing charity drives in her name. They fiercely defend her against online criticism and celebrate her unique image as an independent woman. [edit]

Zhao Xiaotang adopted the stage name "Xiaotang" early in her career, though her legal birth name remains Zhao Jia Hui. Fans often refer to her affectionately as "Tang Tang." One of her most iconic moments occurred during Youth With You when her composed, almost aloof demeanor during voting segments went viral, creating a meme that defined her "cool girl" image. Another legendary performance was her rendition of "Dreams," where her synchronized dance moves captivated the audience and caused a massive surge in her follower count overnight.

She is known for her distinct androgynous fashion sense, often mixing oversized clothing with high-fashion accessories. Unlike many peers who document their dating lives, Zhao keeps her personal relationships extremely private. She frequently uses her social media to share glimpses of her daily life and travel, emphasizing self-love and family values over public romance. [edit]

As of 2026, there are no confirmed public records of romantic relationships, engagements, or marriages. Unlike other idols who frequently document their dating lives, Zhao has not released any statements regarding a partner, nor have credible sources reported on any high-profile flings or long-term relationships. She is widely regarded as single.

In her social media updates, she frequently emphasizes spending time with family and taking breaks to recharge, suggesting a focus on personal well-being rather than public romance. iFANN currently estimates Zhao Xiaotang's net worth at approximately $12 million USD as of 2026. This figure reflects her rapid rise from a dance student to a top-tier influencer and actress. The majority of her wealth stems from lucrative brand endorsements, particularly her long-term contracts with luxury fashion houses like Victoria's Secret and Burberry. These deals alone likely generate millions annually given her status as a key figure in the Chinese market.

Beyond endorsements, Zhao has diversified her income through acting fees and appearance fees for variety shows. Her role in films like Yesterday Once More and upcoming projects like The Old Dog adds substantial value to her portfolio. Given her family's background in real estate and typical investment patterns for celebrities in her demographic, she likely holds significant assets in tier-one cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Her financial trajectory has been upward since her debut in 2020, solidifying her position as one of the wealthiest young entertainers in China. [edit]
