Zhao Jiamin

Zhao Jiamin is a Chinese singer and actress who rose to prominence as a member of the idol group SNH48. Born in Shenzhen in 1998, she quickly became one of the group's most popular members before transitioning to a career in film and television. She remains active in the entertainment industry as of 2026, balancing acting roles with her public presence.

Her career is defined by her time as a center position holder for SNH48 and her subsequent move into solo acting projects. While she no longer performs with the group, her influence from her idol days continues to shape her current work in dramas and feature films. [edit]

Zhao Jiamin was born on July 22, 1998, in Shenzhen, a bustling city in the Guangdong province of southern China. Growing up in this vibrant region, she developed an early interest in performance arts that would eventually lead her to the entertainment world. Before stepping onto the national stage, she attended local high school where she honed her skills in dance and singing.

Her entry into the professional industry began when she auditioned for the SNH48 project, a massive idol initiative modeled after Japan's AKB48. The audition process was rigorous, filtering thousands of applicants to find those with the potential for stardom. Zhao stood out during these trials due to her natural charisma and dedication. After being selected as a trainee, she underwent intensive training in vocal performance, choreography, and variety show etiquette at the group's Shanghai base. This period of preparation laid the groundwork for her eventual debut in Team SII, marking the end of her pre-fame life and the start of her journey as a public figure. [edit]

Zhao Jiamin made her official debut with SNH48 in 2013, joining Team SII shortly after her training period. Her rise within the group was meteoric, driven largely by her participation in the annual General Elections, a fan-voted event that determined the lineup for upcoming singles. In 2015, she achieved a career-defining milestone by securing first place in the second General Election. This victory earned her the coveted center position for the group's next single, a role reserved for the most popular members and a significant boost to her profile within the C-pop market.

Following her election win, she starred in multiple singles and headlined major concerts, becoming a key commercial asset for the group. Her energetic stage presence and vocal abilities garnered a loyal following. However, in late 2019, Zhao announced her graduation from SNH48 to pursue a dedicated acting career. Her departure marked a strategic pivot, allowing her to explore more mature roles beyond the idol persona.

Post-graduation, she signed with Huanyu Films and began appearing in various film and television projects. Notable works include her role in the 2016 film Girls Generation and the 2024 release The Double. Her portfolio has expanded to include supporting roles in dramas, showcasing her versatility as an actress capable of handling complex characters outside the idol framework. [edit]

During her idol years, Zhao was known for a cute and youthful aesthetic that resonated with the group's demographic. As she transitioned into acting, her style evolved to become more mature and sophisticated, often blending modern trends with traditional Chinese elements in promotional photos. Her public image is that of a dedicated performer who successfully navigated the shift from pop star to serious actress. She maintains an active presence on Instagram, where she shares updates on her projects and personal interests, fostering a direct connection with her audience. [edit]

Zhao Jiamin is currently evaluated by the iFANN Global Fame Engine but does not hold a placement in the published rankings as of October 2026. She was not featured in the September 2026 iFAMOUS Rankings flagship list. While she does not have a formal fandom name documented in English sources, her support base remains highly organized, particularly among fans of the SNH48 ecosystem.

During her tenure as an idol, fans engaged in aggressive streaming campaigns to boost her ranking in the General Elections, directly contributing to her first-place finish in 2015. These efforts were instrumental in establishing her status as a top-tier member. Even after her graduation, her fanbase continues to follow her acting projects, organizing birthday events and charity drives in her name. The relationship between Zhao and her supporters is characterized by a strong sense of loyalty and mutual appreciation for her growth from an idol to an actress. [edit]

One of the most memorable moments in Zhao Jiamin's career occurred during the 2015 General Election, where her victory was met with massive celebration from fans across China. This event highlighted the unique power of fan engagement in the Chinese idol scene. Another iconic moment was her 2019 graduation concert, which served as an emotional farewell where she performed a setlist of her favorite songs alongside tributes from fellow members.

In September 2026, Zhao became the subject of a digital controversy involving deepfake images circulating online. This incident drew attention to the challenges idols face regarding digital misinformation and content moderation. Despite the distraction, she maintained her focus on her acting career, continuing to release new projects throughout 2026. [edit]

Zhao Jiamin keeps her family life private, rarely discussing her parents or siblings in public interviews. She grew up in Shenzhen and has not shared specific details about her upbringing beyond general mentions of her hometown. This figure reflects her earnings from her successful tenure as a top idol in SNH48, which included income from concert tickets, merchandise sales, and endorsement deals. Following her graduation in 2019, her revenue streams shifted toward acting contracts and film roles.

Zhao Jiamin's primary award recognition comes from her time as an idol within SNH48. She won the prestigious first place in the 2015 SNH48 Second General Election, a solo achievement based on fan voting that highlighted her individual popularity and influence. While SNH48 as a collective has won numerous awards, these are attributed to the group entity and not listed as individual wins for Zhao. [edit]
