Young Forever

Released in early 2010, Young Forever stands as a distinct entry in Jay-Z's discography for its seamless blend of hip-hop and 1980s synth-pop. The track samples the melody from Alphaville's 1984 hit Forever Young, retaining the original instrumental hook while layering new lyrics about legacy and aging over it. British singer Mr Hudson delivers the adapted vocals for the chorus and bridge, creating a dialogue between the nostalgic sentiment of the original song and Jay-Z's modern reflection on his career longevity.

Kanye West produced the beat to merge electronic elements with contemporary hip-hop techniques, resulting in a polished sound that diverges from the aggressive boom-bap style found elsewhere on The Blueprint 3. This melodic approach helped the single achieve significant commercial success globally. It peaked at number 6 in the United Kingdom and reached the top 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100, proving that a rap song built around a classic rock sample could still dominate radio waves years after the original release.
