You and I

Released on August 23, 2011, You and I marked a sharp turn for Lady Gaga as she traded electronic beats for electric guitars. The track served as the fourth single from her second studio album, Born This Way, and arrived under Interscope Records and KonLive Distribution. Robert John "Mutt" Lange produced the song, bringing his history with AC/DC and Def Leppard to help craft a gritty, stadium-ready sound. Brian May of Queen contributed the lead guitar parts and added the stomping rhythm that echoes the band's 1977 hit We Will Rock You. This deliberate sampling created a bridge between two eras of rock music while showcasing Gaga's vocal range.

Gaga first performed the song at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball in June 2010. The audience reaction was so strong that she immediately added it to her setlist for The Monster Ball Tour.
