Mizuno's achievements as a songwriter are substantial. He ranked No. 1 on Oricon's Songwriter of the Year chart in 2010, a rare feat for a songwriter who primarily writes for a single group. His composition "Arigatō" became one of the most downloaded songs in Japan during the late 2000s and won multiple industry awards. The compilation Chou Ikimono-gakari, for which he was the primary producer, sold over two million copies and was the best-selling album of 2015 in Japan according to Oricon.
