    About

The York Revolution is a professional baseball team based in York, Pennsylvania, competing in the North Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent league that operates as a partner league of Major League Baseball. Founded in 2006, the team returned professional baseball to York after a nearly forty-year absence. The franchise plays its home games at WellSpan Park, a ballpark that opened in 2007 at 5 Brooks Robinson Way. The Revolution is owned by York Professional Baseball Club LLC, with an ownership group led by Chairman Bill Shipley and including more than thirty community investors. The team has won five Atlantic League championships, in 2010, 2011, 2017, 2024, and 2025, making it one of the most successful franchises in the league's history.

The organization's leadership transitioned in April 2025, when Ben Shipley, a fifth-generation member of the Shipley Energy family, became President and General Manager. In January 2026, the team appointed its first Chief Financial Officer, Ken Picciotti Sr. The manager is Rick Forney. The team's colors are navy blue, gold, white, and silver, and its mascot is named DownTown. The Revolution has retired four uniform numbers: 42, 8, 35, and 5. The franchise maintains a strong community connection through its diverse ownership group, which includes local business leaders, non-profit board members, and elected officials such as York County President Commissioner Julie Wheeler.

    Mission

The York Revolution aims to deliver professional baseball, family-friendly entertainment, and genuine community connection. The organization strives to be a fixture in the York area, providing affordable, high-quality baseball while fostering local pride and engagement through its community ownership model and outreach programs.

    History

The York Revolution was established in 2006, bringing professional baseball back to York after the city had been without a team since the late 1960s. A key figure in the franchise's creation was Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson, who had begun his professional career with the York White Roses in 1955 and later became part of the original ownership group that also founded the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and Lancaster Barnstormers. The team played its inaugural season in 2007 at the newly built WellSpan Park. The Revolution quickly found success, capturing its first Atlantic League championship in 2010, a feat it repeated in 2011. After a second championship run, the team won again in 2017, and then achieved back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025. The organization mourned the passing of Brooks Robinson in 2023. In 2025, Ben Shipley took over as President and General Manager, and the following year the team created the CFO position, appointing Ken Picciotti Sr. The Revolution continues to be a competitive force in the Atlantic League and a central part of York's sports culture.
