Yemi Alade's career is marked by several firsts. She was the first female Afrobeats artist to reach 100 million views on a single YouTube video, and the second Nigerian artist overall. She was also the first woman to win the MTV African Music Award for Best Female two years in a row. Her Grammy nomination for "Tomorrow" placed her among a small group of African artists recognized by the Recording Academy. These achievements have made her a role model for young women in African music, and she has used her platform to advocate for more female representation in the industry.

AwardsYemi Alade has won multiple major awards in African music. She took home the MTV African Music Award for Best Female in both 2015 and 2016, the first artist to do so consecutively. She also won The Headies Best Performer twice, in 2018 and 2019, becoming the inaugural winner of that category. Her song "Tomorrow" earned a Grammy nomination in 2025, though she did not win. These wins reflect her dominance as a live performer and her broad appeal across the continent.
