Yelena Davydova's place in gymnastics history is secure. She was the first woman to perform a Tkatchev release on uneven bars and a side somersault on balance beam, skills that changed the sport. Her all-around victory over Nadia Comăneci in 1980 remains one of the most talked-about moments in Olympic gymnastics. She later became one of the few people to both coach a national team and judge at the Olympics.
