Yama Wayama's career is marked by early recognition and critical acclaim. Her debut one-shot won the Chiba Tetsuya Newcomer's Award, and her self-published doujinshi Captivated, by You earned two major honors: the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for short works and a Japan Media Arts Festival New Face Award. She followed up with a second Japan Media Arts Festival Award in 2022, solidifying her reputation as a distinctive voice in slice-of-life manga.
