Daisuke Ashihara created World Trigger, a manga that blends high-stakes sci-fi action with the strategic depth of a tactical game. The story begins when mysterious portals open in Japan, unleashing alien invaders known as Neighbors. Ordinary citizens gain access to advanced combat gear called Triggers, transforming them into Border agents tasked with defending humanity. Ashihara launched the series in Weekly Shōnen Jump in February 2013 before moving it to Jump Square later that year. The narrative spans 29 collected volumes through December 2025, offering readers a detailed look at training arcs and large-scale battles rather than just power fantasies. Viz Media brought the English version to North American shelves, allowing fans outside Japan to follow the ongoing conflict.[edit]
