Woman's World

Katy Perry returned in 2024 with "Woman's World," the lead single from her seventh studio album, 143. Released on July 11 via Capitol Records, the track blends bubblegum pop and dance-pop, co-written by Perry with Chloe Angelides, Dr. Luke, Vaughn Oliver, Aaron Joseph, and Rocco Did It Again! (who also handled production). Perry said the song was inspired by the "feminine divine," noting that empowering anthems like Firework and Roar had been career highlights. But the announcement sparked backlash over Dr. Luke's involvement, given singer Kesha's sexual assault allegations against him. Critics panned the songwriting and production, and the accompanying music video, where Perry dressed as Rosie the Riveter, was called a weak feminist statement. Perry defended it as slapstick satire.

Commercially, it hit the top 10 in Croatia and Israel, reached 47 in the UK, 63 in the US, and 65 on the Billboard Global 200. The song holds a Metacritic score of 36 out of 100, indicating generally unfavorable reviews. It was nominated for Worst Song at the 2024 Golden Raspberry Awards but did not win. No RIAA or BPI certifications have been issued as of early 2025. Several artists released covers, including a stripped-down acoustic version by singer-songwriter Maeve and a satirical reinterpretation by drag queen Alaska Thunderfuck.[edit]
