Witch and Mercenary

Shiasha runs from a world that hunts magic, carrying the weight of a calamity witch while Zig Crane tracks her down as a professional soldier. Their first meeting ends in a violent clash where the mercenary survives an attack meant to kill him. Instead of turning her in or finishing the job, Zig agrees to protect Shiasha, and the pair sets off together to find a place where they can live without fear.

The story started as a web serial on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in June 2021 before Micro Magazine released the first physical volume under their GCN Bunko imprint on May 19, 2023. Bench Kanase handled the illustrations for the light novel series written by Kaeru Chōhōkiteki. Seven Seas Entertainment acquired the English license for both the novels and the manga adaptation at Anime NYC in August 2026.

A manga version illustrated by Makoto Miyagi began serialization on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket in January 2024. The franchise expanded further when Eight Bit studio announced a television anime adaptation in April 2026. A second trailer in September 2026 confirmed the show will premiere in April 2027 with Taito Ban voicing Zig Crane and Saori Hayami as Shiasha. [edit]
