Awards Won

Soon's awards come almost entirely from climate-skeptic and conservative organizations. The Petr Beckmann Award from Doctors for Disaster Preparedness honors his defense of scientific truth as they define it. The George C. Marshall Institute gave him the Courage in Defense of Science Award. He also received the Frederick Seitz Memorial Award. These honors reflect his standing within the climate-skeptic community rather than mainstream science.

AwardsSoon won the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Graduate Scholastic Award in 1989 and the Rockwell Dennis Hunt Scholastic Award from USC in 1991. In 2004, he received the Petr Beckmann Award from Doctors for Disaster Preparedness. He also received a Smithsonian Institution award for work performance and the Courage in Defense of Science Award from the George C. Marshall Institute.
