Wilfried Gnonto

Gnonto's honours list is short because his career is short. One league title, won as a teenager at FC Zürich, and a set of Italy caps earned before his twentieth birthday. The more interesting line on his record is the specific one: the youngest player ever to represent Italy in the Nations League, set against Germany in June 2022. That is a footnote now, but footnotes are how young players start. His real achievement so far is durability of a particular kind. He was relegated in his first English season and chose to stay, then produced ten goals in a Championship promotion campaign. Plenty of players with his profile would have pushed for a move instead. Leeds supporters noticed, and that decision is a bigger part of his reputation than any medal.
