Wild Cherry's achievements center around their ability to create a timeless anthem that transcended the fleeting trends of the 1970s. Winning a Grammy for their sole hit demonstrates the critical acclaim they received at the height of their popularity. The dual platinum certifications for both the single and the album highlight their massive commercial impact, making them one of the few funk-rock acts to achieve such widespread recognition in the US market.
