Warren Petersen

Petersen's record is measured in gavels rather than trophies. He went from a House freshman in 2012 to Judiciary Committee chairman, then to Majority Leader, then to Senate President, a climb that few Arizona legislators manage in a single decade. His colleagues' decision to hand him the chamber's top post is the clearest sign of how his peers regard him. In 2026 his party made him its nominee for attorney general, putting a state legislator on a statewide ballot. There are no hall-of-fame inductions or magazine covers in this story, and that is fine. In state politics the honors are the committee chairmanships, the leadership votes and the endorsements from the people who wear badges for a living.
