Vũ Trọng Phụng’s greatest accolade is the lasting power of his satire. His novel Dumb Luck has never gone out of print and is required reading in Vietnamese high schools. Scholars rank him among the most important Vietnamese authors of the 20th century, and his works have been translated into multiple languages. The upcoming film adaptation is a testament to his continued relevance. In 2012, on the centenary of his birth, literary organizations held conferences and exhibitions in his honor.
