Vogue India
India"India's definitive fashion and lifestyle authority"
About
Vogue India made history in September 2007 as the 17th international edition of Vogue and the first in South Asia. Launched by Condé Nast India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Condé Nast International, it became the first magazine in India to operate with 100% foreign ownership. This was made possible by a 2005 policy change that allowed full foreign direct investment in non-news publications.
The magazine operates from two offices in Mumbai and New Delhi, covering India's key fashion capitals. Founding editor Priya Tanna shaped the edition's strategy, positioning it for a sophisticated Indian readership. The magazine blends global luxury with local culture, featuring Indian designers, models, and cultural icons alongside international stars.
Vogue India's brand identity is aspirational yet accessible. It tailors content to the Indian woman, who, according to Tanna, has moved from a 'we' culture to a 'me' culture with increased spending power. The magazine consciously mixes global trends with hyper-local content, reflecting that an Indian reader might buy a Louis Vuitton bag but also get a sari designed by her local tailor.
