    About

Vinted started in 2008 when Milda Mitkutė, moving house, wanted to offload clothes she no longer wore. With Justas Janauskas, she threw together a website in two weeks where people could trade garments. That scrappy prototype became the foundation of Europe's largest second-hand fashion marketplace.

Today Vinted is more than just a peer-to-peer resale app. The company operates Vinted Go for shipping and logistics, Vinted Pay for in-app payments, and Vinted Ventures, an investment arm backing circular economy startups launched in 2025. Headquartered in Vilnius, it employs over 2,200 people across offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, and Paris. The platform serves more than 100 million registered members across 26 markets, with gross merchandise value exceeding $10 billion as of 2024.

Under CEO Thomas Plantenga, who joined as a strategy consultant in 2016 and later led a painful restructuring that cut the workforce by a third, Vinted turned profitable. The company scrapped seller fees in favor of a buyer protection model, a move that fueled rapid growth. Revenue hit €1.1 billion in 2025, with net income of €62 million. Vinted became Lithuania's first unicorn in 2019, and its valuation now stands at €8 billion.
