Viktor An's Olympic record is the gold standard in short-track speed skating. His six gold medals are unmatched, and his feat of medaling in every event at a single Olympics (2006) remains unique. At the world championships, his five consecutive overall titles from 2003 to 2007 demonstrated a level of consistency that few athletes in any sport achieve. An's ability to come back from a career-threatening knee injury and a change of nationality to win three more Olympic golds in 2014 speaks to his resilience and skill. He is not just a champion but a pioneer who pushed the boundaries of what a short-track skater could accomplish.
