Vic Fuentes

Victor Vincent Fuentes is an American musician and the co-founder of the post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil. Born in San Diego, he serves as the group's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, known for his distinctive falsetto vocals and emotionally charged songwriting.

Fuentes has built a reputation as one of the most influential figures in modern rock and pop-punk. His work with the band has resulted in multiple platinum records and sold-out world tours. He is equally recognized for his philanthropic efforts through the Living The Dream Foundation, which supports children facing serious illnesses. [edit]

Vic Fuentes grew up in San Diego, California, in a working-class Mexican-American household. His early life was defined by a deep connection to music, influenced by the diverse sounds of Southern California punk and alternative scenes. He attended Torrey Pines High School, where he crossed paths with his younger brother, Mike Fuentes. The two bonded over shared musical interests ranging from emo to metal, forming the foundation of their future collaboration.

Before achieving mainstream success, Vic honed his craft in local San Diego bands like The Reunion and Machete. These early projects allowed him to develop his signature vocal style and guitar techniques. He spent years performing in small venues, writing lyrics that reflected his personal struggles and observations. This period of grassroots touring and self-taught skill building laid the groundwork for the unique sound that would later define Pierce the Veil. [edit]

In 2006, Vic Fuentes officially formed Pierce the Veil alongside his brother Mike, bassist Jaime Preciado, and guitarist Tony Perry. The band quickly gained traction in the underground scene with their debut EP The Jaws of Life in 2007. Their first full-length album, Selfish Machines, followed in 2008, showcasing Fuentes' expanding vocal range.

The breakthrough moment arrived with the 2010 release of A Flair for the Dramatic. The track "King for a Day" became an anthem for the genre, propelling the band into the spotlight. Subsequent albums Collide with the Sky (2012) and Misadventures (2016) debuted at No. 5 and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 respectively, cementing their status as headliners.

Following drummer Mike Fuentes' departure in 2019, the band continued with Dan Kingsbury. In 2026, they completed the I Can't Hear You world tour, culminating in a historic homecoming concert at Petco Park in San Diego. Fuentes remains active in the industry, releasing re-recorded classics and collaborating on new projects. [edit]

Fuentes projects an image of humility and authenticity that resonates deeply with his fanbase. His signature look includes long hair, tattoos, and a casual yet stylish aesthetic that reflects his punk rock roots. He is frequently described by media outlets as approachable and empathetic, often engaging directly with fans on social media platforms.

His public persona is defined by a genuine passion for music and a commitment to giving back. Unlike many rock stars, he avoids the trappings of excess, focusing instead on his art and charitable work. This grounded nature has earned him respect within the industry and among critics alike. [edit]

The band's fanbase, known as Veilers, is one of the most organized and passionate communities in modern rock. They are famous for leading massive streaming campaigns to boost chart positions and organizing surprise charity drives in Vic's name. Fans often create elaborate video tributes and attend every show regardless of location. Vic frequently acknowledges this dedication, dedicating songs to them during concerts and hosting meet-and-greets that foster a strong sense of community. [edit]

Vic Fuentes is largely self-taught, having learned to play guitar by watching YouTube tutorials rather than attending formal music school. He owns a notable collection of vintage guitars, including a Fender Stratocaster that features prominently in many of his studio recordings. Despite his global fame, he maintains a low-key lifestyle and continues to live in his hometown of San Diego.

The band's name, Pierce the Veil, was inspired by a line from the movie Donnie Darko. Fans often mistake the band's heavy emotional themes for purely fictional storytelling, but Fuentes insists every lyric comes from real life experiences. He also hosts annual charity events for sick children through his nonprofit organization. [edit]

Vic Fuentes is the older brother of Mike Fuentes, who served as the original drummer for Pierce the Veil until 2019. Their close relationship was central to the band's identity during its formative years. Both brothers were raised by their parents in a supportive Mexican-American household that encouraged their artistic pursuits.

Vic remains deeply connected to his family roots, often referencing his upbringing in interviews. While he keeps his romantic life private, he is known to be a devoted family man who prioritizes his siblings and extended family. The family dynamic provided the stability needed for the intense touring schedule required by the music industry. [edit]
