Veilside

Founded in 1990 by Hironao Yokomaku, Veilside began as a small tuning shop in Shimotsuma, Ibaraki Prefecture. The name itself is a direct translation of the founder's given name, combining "Yoko" for side and "maku" for veil. This personal touch set the stage for a brand that would eventually define an era of Japanese car modification. Early efforts focused on suspension geometry and engine components before shifting toward the aggressive wide-body aesthetics that now characterize the company.

The brand achieved global recognition through its partnership with the Mazda RX-7 FD3S featured in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. That specific vehicle became an instant icon, driving massive demand for parts that blend extreme visual impact with functional airflow. While other tuners often favor uniform boxy styles, Veilside maintains a more organic design language that prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency alongside street presence.

Recent years have seen the company adapt to modern platforms while keeping its heritage alive. In early 2026, they teased a wild new wide-body kit for the Toyota GR86 ahead of the Tokyo Auto Salon. They also collaborated with actor Sung Kang on a one-off Nissan Z in 2023, bridging the gap between cinema history and current automotive trends.
