About
Unitree Robotics builds some of the most accessible and capable robots on the market, from $1,600 robot dogs to $90,000 humanoids. Founded in 2016 by Wang Xingxing, the company started in a tiny 50-square-meter office in Hangzhou's Binjiang District. Wang's first robot, the XDog, was his master's thesis at Shanghai University in 2013. After the XDog went viral online, Wang spent a short stint at DJI before quitting to start Unitree.
What sets Unitree apart is its relentless focus on shipping products at prices that undercut almost everyone else. The Go2 quadruped, launched in July 2023, packs a 4D LiDAR and AI integration into a sub-$2,000 package. On the humanoid side, the G1 starts around $13,700, while the H1 became the first full-size Chinese humanoid capable of running at over 5 meters per second. By 2025, humanoids made up more than half of Unitree's core revenue, up from just 1.9% in 2023.
The company has a knack for high-profile appearances. Unitree robots have performed at the Super Bowl pre-show with Jason Derulo, served as guide dogs for torchbearers at the 2023 Asian Para Games, and danced on CCTV's Spring Festival Gala. In 2024, Jensen Huang showed off a Unitree robot at Nvidia GTC. Unitree also hosted the first humanoid robot fighting competition in May 2025, based on its G1 platform.
