Turk's greatest achievement is being a core member of the Hot Boys, the group that helped put Cash Money Records and New Orleans hip-hop on the national map. Their 1999 album Guerrilla Warfare went platinum and remains a touchstone of Southern rap. Turk's solo debut Young & Thuggin' cracked the Billboard 200, proving his individual appeal. His ability to record and release music from federal prison, and then pick up his career after release, shows a resilience that fans deeply respect. In 2011, the city of New Orleans gave him a Key to the City, a rare honor that recognized both his musical impact and his positive influence after serving his time.
