On a humid June night in 2024, Karol G dropped Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido into the world. The song became a sleeper hit, climbing to number one on Hot Latin Songs and staying there for 14 weeks. By the time her fifth studio album arrived exactly one year later, that single had already racked up over a billion streams on Spotify. Tropicoqueta is the album it belongs to: 20 tracks that move from cumbia to bachata to baile funk, recorded between 2023 and December 2024 across studios in Medellín, Miami, and São Paulo.

Karol G calls it a love letter to Latin America, and the guest list reads like a continent-spanning party. Manu Chao brings his nomadic energy to Viajando Por El Mundo. Marco Antonio Solís, the Mexican ballad king, appears on Coleccionando Heridas. Feid, Greeicy, Mariah Angeliq, and Eddy Lover each add their own flavor. The album was co-produced by a who's who of Latin music: Édgar Barrera worked on 11 of the 20 tracks, while Ovy on the Drums, Sky Rompiendo, Tainy, and even Pharrell Williams contributed.

Released on June 20, 2025, through Bichota Records and Interscope, Tropicoqueta debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 57,000 equivalent album units. It became the fourth all-Spanish album by a woman to crack the top three of that chart. The album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, while Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido won two Latin Grammys: Song of the Year and Best Tropical Song. [edit]
