Trick Williams

Matrick Mondre Belton, known to wrestling fans as Trick Williams, is an American professional wrestler and former college football player. Born on May 26, 1994, in Columbia, South Carolina, he is currently 32 years old. Williams is recognized for his high-energy style, charismatic persona, and catchphrase "Whoop That Trick!" He is considered one of the brightest young stars in professional wrestling, currently performing on WWE SmackDown as the WWE United States Champion, managed by rapper Lil Yachty. His career includes historic achievements such as being the first WWE-contracted wrestler to hold the TNA World Championship. Williams combines flashy street-style attire with a powerful in-ring style, and his fanbase, known as the "Tricksters," actively participates in his entrance by shouting his catchphrase. He has been featured on the cover of WWE Magazine and in a major Sports Illustrated profile.[edit]

Trick Williams grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was a standout multi-sport athlete. He attended Spring Valley High School, excelling in football, which earned him a scholarship to play at the University of South Carolina. As a linebacker and safety for the Gamecocks, he played at the NCAA Division I FBS level, primarily on special teams and as a backup linebacker, but did not make it to the NFL. After his football aspirations ended, he moved to Philadelphia to train under his uncle, a veteran in the local wrestling scene. He originally trained as a boxer before switching to professional wrestling. He made his professional debut in 2018 under the ring name "Sweet Daddy Trick" on the independent circuit. For about three years, he honed his skills in smaller promotions, building a local following and catching the attention of WWE scouts.[edit]

In February 2021, Trick Williams signed a developmental contract with WWE. He debuted on NXT in September 2021 as the manager and enforcer for Carmelo Hayes. The duo quickly became a successful tag team, winning the NXT Tag Team Championship in 2022. In December 2023, Williams won the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline, earning a shot at the NXT Championship. He defeated Ilja Dragunov in January 2024 to win his first NXT Championship. He successfully defended the title against top contenders, including a highly personal feud with Carmelo Hayes, who had turned on him. In May 2025, Williams made history by winning the TNA World Championship as part of a cross-promotional partnership between WWE and TNA, becoming the first WWE-contracted wrestler to hold a TNA title. Later that year, he transitioned to WWE SmackDown. In 2026, he won the WWE United States Championship and began being managed by rapper Lil Yachty. He is scheduled to defend his title at WrestleMania 42.[edit]

Trick Williams presents a high-energy, charismatic persona in the ring. He combines flashy street-style attire, often wearing chains, designer sneakers, and colorful gear, with a powerful, explosive wrestling style. Portrayed as a confident but heroic babyface, he backs up his talk with impressive performances. His catchphrase "Whoop That Trick!" has become a fan rallying cry during his entrance, with the crowd shouting it in unison. His social media presence is energetic and engaging, focused on hyping his matches and title defenses. The fandom calls themselves the "Tricksters." He is seen as a future top star of the company. Notable quotes include "I'm not just a star, I'm a *superstar*" and "They said I was just a football player. Now I'm the champion. What they gonna say now?"[edit]

Trick Williams commands a distinct and vocal global audience, driven by the organic resonance of his entrance chants and high-stakes in-ring performances. While iFANN has evaluated his profile, he currently holds no placement within the Global Top 1,000 or any scope-specific top-tier lists as of August 2026. His standing remains that of an unranked but highly visible figure whose fame is concentrated within professional wrestling circles rather than the general celebrity sphere. The lack of a formal numeric ranking does not diminish the intensity of his support; fans identify primarily through the rallying cry "Whoop That Trick" or as supporters of the "Anointed One," though no single unified fandom name exists. This decentralized loyalty manifests in stadium-filling choruses that have become a signature element of his live events. The cultural mythology surrounding him includes a pivotal moment on July 21, 2025, where he delivered a controversial promo targeting The Undertaker, a segment widely cited as the turning point that elevated him from a rising prospect to a serious main roster threat. Following this, The Undertaker publicly predicted Williams would become WWE's biggest star, cementing his status among industry observers. His narrative is further defined by his rivalry with Carmelo Hayes and a viral ambush of Baron Corbin, alongside personal milestones such as his marriage to Lash Legend. These verified incidents and the sheer volume of crowd participation serve as the primary metrics of his influence, distinguishing him as a unique case of modern wrestling stardom built on fan interaction rather than traditional media saturation.[edit]

His finishing move is known as the "Trick Shot," a running knee strike executed with precision. Before his professional wrestling career took hold, he played college football, primarily serving on special teams and as a backup linebacker. He is managed by rapper Lil Yachty, a longtime fan who first met him backstage at a WWE event. Williams' supporters are collectively known as the "Tricksters." He secured the NXT North American Championship once and the NXT Championship twice. Associated figures in his career include Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, Ethan Page, Booker T, and Shawn Michaels. A central pillar of his legend is the "Whoop That Trick" chant, which emerged organically from crowds during his early NXT days rather than being manufactured by management. Fans view this as their anthem, creating a massive, stadium-filling ritual during his entrances. On July 21, 2025, Williams delivered a promo targeting The Undertaker, a risky segment that earned him genuine respect within the industry. The Undertaker subsequently predicted Williams would become WWE's biggest star, validating his transition from a popular rookie to a top contender. His United States Championship reign lasted until SummerSlam 2026, where he was defeated by Baron Corbin in Minneapolis.[edit]

Williams is private about his family life. He has not publicly named his parents or siblings. He trained under his uncle, a veteran in the Philadelphia wrestling scene. As of 2026, he is not married and has no reported children. He does not share details about his household or pets on social media. He is not related to any other professional wrestler by blood.[edit]

Trick Williams has been closely associated with Carmelo Hayes, his former tag team partner and later bitter rival. He has also feuded with Ilja Dragunov and Ethan Page. His current manager is rapper Lil Yachty. He has been mentored by Booker T and overseen by Shawn Michaels during his NXT run.[edit]

Trick Williams has not publicly confirmed any long-term romantic relationships. He maintains a private personal life and does not discuss dating in interviews. As of 2026, he is reportedly single with no known partners.[edit]

Updated for 2026, iFANN currently estimates Trick Williams' net worth at $2 Million. His financial foundation rests on his WWE salary as a main roster champion, which is projected between $500,000 and $1 million annually, supplemented by bonuses for pay-per-view appearances, merchandise sales, and live event shares. Additional compensation was accrued during his cross-promotional period in TNA. Revenue from merchandise, including T-shirts and action figures, constitutes a significant portion of his earnings. There are no publicly known endorsement deals or real estate holdings associated with him. His income from independent wrestling prior to joining WWE was minimal.[edit]

Trick Williams has won multiple championships in WWE and TNA, including the NXT Championship twice, the NXT North American Championship once, the NXT Tag Team Championship once, the TNA World Championship once, and the WWE United States Championship once. He also won the 2023 Men's Iron Survivor Challenge.[edit]
