Tostão's place in football history is secured by his role in Brazil's 1970 World Cup triumph, widely considered the greatest team ever. He was the only player besides Pelé to be ranked among the world's best in the early 1970s. AwardsTostão won the FIFA World Cup in 1970 with Brazil and was named to the All-Star Team. He won the Campeonato Brasileiro with Cruzeiro in 1966 and four consecutive Campeonato Mineiro titles (1967-1970). Individually, he received the Bola de Ouro and Bola de Prata in 1970, and was top scorer of the Campeonato Brasileiro in 1966 and the Campeonato Mineiro in 1968 and 1969.
