Tony Stark

Tony Stark was born on Long Island, New York, to industrialist Howard Stark and his wife Maria. A child prodigy, he graduated from MIT at 17 with degrees in physics and engineering. After his parents died in a car crash, he took over Stark Industries, which supplied weapons to the U.S. military.

While demonstrating new technology in Afghanistan in 2008, Stark was kidnapped by the Ten Rings terrorist group. A bomb explosion left shrapnel near his heart. With help from fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen, he built a magnetic chest plate to keep the fragments from killing him and constructed his first powered armor suit in a cave.
