Tonowari

Tonowari was born into the Metkayina, one of over fifty reef clans that inhabit the Eastern Sea of Pandora. He rose to become olo'eyktan of the Metkayina, the largest reef clan, leading from their village of Awa'atlu. His tattoos, covering his neck and face, mark milestones and achievements earned through a lifetime of leadership and hunts. [edit]

Tonowari is a fierce warrior and a well-spoken statesman. He commands respect through his ideals and calm authority, balancing assertiveness with diplomacy. Tonowari first appears when he grants refuge to Jake Sully and his family, despite the risk of drawing the RDA's attention. He wrestles with the consequences but ultimately allows them to stay, showing compassion and political acumen. As the RDA hunts the Tulkun, the Metkayina's spiritual brothers, Tonowari leads his people into conflict.
