Timo Salonen's place in rally history is secure. He was the most successful driver of the Group B era, a period that remains the most thrilling and dangerous in WRC history. His 1985 championship was a masterclass in consistency and speed, winning seven rallies in a single season. Salonen's ability to adapt from Group B to Group A, winning for Mazda in 1987, demonstrated his versatility. He is remembered not just for his results, but for his unique style and personality, which made him a fan favorite. His induction into the Rally Finland Hall of Fame in 2019 was a fitting tribute to a career that helped define Finnish rallying.
