Tim Howard's career is distinguished by several historic achievements. He holds the World Cup record for most saves in a single match with 16 against Belgium in 2014. He is the most capped goalkeeper in U.S. men's national team history with 121 appearances. He is one of only four goalkeepers to score a goal in the Premier League. His 2009 Confederations Cup Golden Glove and two CONCACAF Gold Cup titles highlight his international success. In 2024, he was inducted into both the National Soccer Hall of Fame and the New Jersey Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of America's finest soccer players.

AwardsHoward won the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2001 and was named to the MLS Best XI in 2001 and 2002. In England, he was selected for the PFA Team of the Year and named Premier League Goalkeeper of the Year in 2004. He received the Golden Glove at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and was twice named U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year (2008, 2014). He also won CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year three times (2013, 2014, 2015).
