Thomas Suozzi

Suozzi has been recognized for his pragmatic leadership and fiscal reforms. In 2005, Governing magazine named him Public Official of the Year for his work in turning around Nassau County's finances. The New York State League of Conservation Voters honored him as Environmentalist of the Year in 2008 for his environmental initiatives. He was also appointed by the governor in 2007 to lead a commission that proposed New York's first property tax cap, which later became law.
