High school student Kanae maintains a strict personal rule against romantic relationships, citing past trauma and an inability to trust others. Her resolve crumbles when Rina, a charismatic classmate with a penchant for persistence, begins courting her despite repeated rejections. The narrative tracks their awkward progression from classmates to partners, balancing slapstick humor with moments of genuine vulnerability as they dismantle Kanae's emotional defenses.

Author Teren Mikami wrote the original light novel series while Eku Takeshima provided the illustrations. Shueisha released the first volume under the Dash X Bunko imprint on February 21, 2020. The collection currently spans eight volumes and has spawned a manga adaptation by Musshu that began serialization in May 2020.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the novels and the manga for English publication in North America. An anime television series produced by Studio Mother premiered its first season in July 2025 and concluded in September 2025. A second season followed in January 2026, and a side-story spinoff was announced by Seven Seas in early 2026. [edit]
