The Whisper Man

Robert De Niro steps back into the gritty crime thriller arena for The Whisper Man, a Netflix adaptation of Alex North's 2019 bestseller. The film stars Adam Scott as Tom Kennedy, a widowed crime writer who moves with his eight-year-old son Jake to the quiet English town of Featherbank, hoping to escape grief. But the town carries a dark history: fifteen years earlier, a serial killer known as the Whisper Man preyed on children, whispering through their bedroom windows before abducting them. That killer, Norman Collins, was caught and imprisoned by retired detective Pete Willis, played by De Niro. When Jake disappears from his own bed, the case eerily mirrors the old crimes, forcing Tom to seek help from his estranged father.

Directed by James Ashcroft, known for the acclaimed New Zealand thriller Coming Home in the Dark, the film pairs De Niro with Adam Scott and Michelle Monaghan, who plays Detective Amanda Beck leading the investigation.
