The Temptations have accumulated an extraordinary number of honors across more than six decades. They have won three competitive Grammy Awards plus a Lifetime Achievement Award, and were among the earliest Motown acts inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their songs My Girl and Papa Was a Rollin' Stone are preserved in the Grammy Hall of Fame. The group has been named Top R&B Group of the Year by Billboard Magazine five times in the 1960s and 1970s, a reflection of their sustained commercial dominance. Their television miniseries The Temptations (1998) was one of the highest-rated programs of the year and introduced their story to a new generation. No other vocal group has maintained a major touring career for sixty years with a continuously evolving lineup.
