The Silent Patient

Alex Michaelides launched his career with The Silent Patient, a psychological thriller that landed on shelves in early 2019. Published by Celadon Books and running just under 350 pages, the story follows Theo Faber, an ambitious psychotherapist obsessed with treating Alicia Berenson. She shot her husband five times in the face and then stopped speaking entirely. Theo moves into her secure facility to be the one who breaks her silence, but he soon discovers that the truth is far darker than he imagined. This debut novel hit the New York Times Best Seller list at number one immediately and claimed the Goodreads Choice Award for Mystery and Thriller later that year.[edit]
